Robert Lee Gilbert, age 78, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at AnMed Medical Center.

Born July 2, 1946, in Anderson, SC, he was a son of the late Arthur Gilbert and Miza Herring Gilbert. He was also preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

Robert was the owner and operator of Gilbert's Upholstery for over 20 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army.

He is survived by his wife Nora Higginbotham Gilbert; son, Geoff Gilbert of Anderson, SC; brother, Michael E. Gilbert (Zemily) of Anderson, SC; sisters, Nancy Varner of Boiling Springs, SC, and Sylvia Brown of Anderson, SC.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, from 12:00-1:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 2:00 pm at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery with Rev. Dwight Greene officiating.
