Robert Henry Hurray, age 78, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at AnMed Medical Center.

Born December 24, 1947, in The Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late Henry Hurray and Helene Wysocki Hurray. He was married for 55 years to Jeanette "Dale" McAlister Hurray until her death on February 23, 2026.

Bob graduated from New Providence High School in 1966. As a teenager he worked at the Crestview Drug Store in New Providence, NJ. He moved south to attend Clemson University where he met his wife Dale in a freshman math class. Bob would bring Dale M&Ms for them to share after class. They were married on June 27, 1970 at Evergreen Hills Baptist Church and they never spent a wedding anniversary apart.

Bob earned his undergraduate teaching degree in 1970 and his master's degree in administration in 1975 from Clemson University. During his education career, he served as a teacher, coach and assistant principal. He spent most of his career in administration at McDuffie High School. He was a faithful member of Pope Drive Baptist Church where he formerly served as a Sunday School teacher .

He was an avid Clemson Tigers and New York Mets fan. He enjoyed visiting family in New Jersey, vacationing at Topsail Island, mafia movies, and caring for his cats. Bob was a meticulous record keeper and his organizational skills were unmatched. Most of all he loved his family and playing with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his son, Dr. David Henry Hurray (Christine); daughter, Catherine Hurray Davis (Corey); grandchildren, Taylor Hurray, Jenna Schank, Josh Hurray, Ethan Hurray, and Gabriel Hurray; and sister, Carolyn Milos (Jay).

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 2, 2026, from 5:30-7:30 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 3, 2026, at 10:00 am in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. Matthew Danuser officiating. The service will be live streamed via the funeral home website. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pope Drive Baptist Church, 2510 Pope Dr., Anderson, SC 29625.
