Robert G. Norris, Jr., age 79, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2016 at NHC of Anderson. Born in Anderson County, SC, on July 29, 1937, he was the son of the late Robert Gilmer Norris, Sr. and the late Irene Anderson Norris. He proudly served his country in the United States Army National Guard. He worked with Owens Corning Fiberglas for 42 years. After retirement he worked for Anderson County Solid Waste. Bob was the Associate Pastor at Mountain Creek Baptist Church, where he was also a member. He is survived by his loving wife, Rosa Lee Finley; two daughters, Janice Owens and her husband Robert, and Sharon Walker and her husband Ben, all of Anderson, SC; a step-daughter, Wanda Nichols, of Anderson; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; six step-great grandchildren; and one aunt, Hortense Anderson Roach, of Anderson, SC. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Emily Webb Norris; his second wife, Barbara Dafft; a brother, Reverend Frank Norris; an infant grandson, Brandon Walker; and two step-children. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 2, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at Mountain Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Billy Whitfield, Reverend Beryl Rosenberger, and Reverend Luke Walker officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Thursday, December 1, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Creek Baptist Church, 3407 Highway 29 South, Anderson, SC 29626.
