Robert Lee "Bob" Parsons, Sr., age 86, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2016 at the Rainey Hospice House. Born in Washington, DC, on May 16, 1930, he was the son of the late Clarence Earl Parsons and the late Margaret Estell Parsons. He proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Sergeant during the Korean War. He retired from J.M. Tull Metals Company having worked in Richmond, Va, Miami, FL and for many years in Greenville, SC. Bob was a member of American Legion #172, Divver Masonic Lodge #349, Hejaz Shriners in Mauldin, SC and Korean War Veterans. He was an avid golfer and had organized the Tri County Senior Golf Tournaments. He was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Lee Davis Parsons; a daughter, Sandy P. White and her husband Steve, of Greenville; three grandchildren, Courtney Lee Lewis and her husband Craig, Chris White and his wife Lauren, and Stephanie Parsons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert L. Parsons, Jr.; and a brother, Earl Parsons. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2016, at 2:30 p.m. at New Prospect Baptist Church with Dr. Tony Smith and Reverend Tom Turner officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
