Born September 12, 1941, in Oakway, SC, he was a son of the late William "Bill" Pitts and the late Clara Sue Campbell Pitts. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Susan Marie Mayfield Pitts. Lane was a graduate of Oakway High School and Tri County Technical College, where he earned a degree in electrical engineering. He worked for the Anderson Career and Technology Center Districts 1 & 2 and taught Industrial Electronics. He also raised and trained horses on the family farm. He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting and worked with the Anderson County 4-H Club for many years. Lane was a devoted husband and father. He is survived by his loving daughter, Patti Pitts of Central, SC; sisters, Shelby Jean Ramey (Alton) and Betty Spearman of Oakway, SC; and brother, Dallas Pitts of Gaffney, SC. Friends and family may pay respects on Saturday, February 20, 2021 as Lane will lie in state at the McDougald Funeral Home from 1 pm - 5 pm. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park at 2:30 pm with Rev. Steve Morgan officiating. Social distancing is to be observed and masks are required.
