Simpson, age 87, of 4205 Old Williamston Road and husband of late Frances D. Simpson, passed away on Friday, April 2, 2010, at the Rainey Hospice House.Born on March 29, 1923, in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Waymond Simpson and Ada Fisher Simpson. He served in the United States Army during World War II and retired from Duke Power. Mr. Simpson was a member of Whitefield Baptist Church and was a member of the Hoyt Masonic Lodge.Survivors include his children: Steven Simpson of Laurens, Timothy Simpson of Anderson, Vickie Phillips of Pelzer, Laura Daws of Hartwell, Ledina Roberts of Pelzer; brother, Willis Trilby Michael of Anderson; sisters: Lucy Wall of Charleston, and Annie Laurie Clardy of Williamston; eight grandchildren; and one great grandchild.In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by siblings: Hubert Simpson, Woodrow Simpson, S.T. Simpson, Samuel Simpson, Watkins Simpson, Rachel Michael, Ruby McCoy Johnson, Mary Beckwith, and Inez Wood.A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, April 5, 2010, in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home.The family is at the home and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Sunday, April 4, 2010.In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that memorials be made to Hospice of The Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621, or to the charity of one's choice.A message of condolence may be sent by visiting www.mcdougaldfuneralhome.com.THE MC DOUGALD FUNERAL HOME, Anderson.
