He was a 1968 graduate of Crescent High School where he played football and later attended Anderson University. He retired as a construction supervisor and was a member of Iva First Baptist Church.Survivors include a son, Jonathan E. Bowman of Columbia, SC; daughters, Heather D. Gilbert and her husband, John of Spartanburg, SC, and Renae Bowman of Clinton, NY; grandchild, Dylan Gilbert; sisters, Yvonne McGee and her husband J. R. of Iva, SC, Laurie Ann Wilson and her husband Randy of Anderson, SC, Janet Bowman of Maryland and Joyce Ryan and her husband, Tim of Knoxville, TN.A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at 1:00 pm at Iva City Cemetery with the Reverend Joel Gardner officiating.
