Roger Echols "Dick" Campbell, age 83, of 1577 Bell Road, Iva, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2015, at the Richard M. Campbell Veteran's Nursing Home. Born in Iva on March 13, 1932, he was the son of the late Lewis Augustus Campbell and the late Hattie Latham Campbell. For fifty-seven years, he was the husband of Cynthia Atkin Campbell of the home. Mr. Campbell served his country for thirteen years in the US Air Force. He later served in the South Carolina National Guard for ten years. Mr. Campbell was retired from Duke Energy and was a very active member and Deacon of First Creek Baptist Church. He enjoyed tree farming and serving with the Antreville Volunteer Fire Department. In addition to his devoted wife, Cynthia, Mr. Campbell is survived by two sons, Richard D. Campbell and his wife, Amy, of Elberton, GA, and Lt. Col. Patrick E. Campbell and his wife, Lisa, of Augusta, GA; two daughters, Carol C. Brickle and husband, Billy, of Iva, and Cheryl C. Oakes and husband, Matthew, of Iva; nine grandchildren, Adam, Steven and Aaron Campbell, Curt Brickle (Jennifer), Cyndi McGee (Reid) , Andrew Oakes, Angie Alewine (Jeremy), and Savannah and Montana Campbell; also surviving are eight great- grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and five step-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Campbell was preceded in death by eight brothers, J. D. "Tuck", Tony, Lewis, Neal, Marcus, Doug, Don and Rodney Campbell; and a sister, Helen Campbell. The funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of Roger Campbell will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2015, at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Iva, with Rev. Jerry Gray and Rev. Donnie Murdock officiating. Interment will follow at Generostee A.R.P Church Cemetery, Iva.
