Obituary

Roger William Mudd, age 70, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at the Rainey Hospice House. Born in Bennettsville, SC on July 19, 1946, he was the son of the late John William Mudd and the late Loraine Grant Mudd. He received both an undergraduate degree and a Master's Degree from Clemson University. He retired from the South Carolina Department of Commerce in Columbia and the Anderson County Development Partnership, now known as Innovate Anderson. Roger was involved in many community activities including, Board of Directors for Anderson Interfaith Ministries, Board of Visitors Emeritus at Anderson University, Board of Directors for Hospice of the Upstate, Board of Visitors at Presbyterian College, Member of Rotary Club of Anderson, Board of Directors with Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce, Anderson Advisory Board with American Red Cross, and Board of Directors with Anderson Heritage and Advisory Council with Leadership Next. He was a member of Central Presbyterian Church where he was an Elder and served on several committees. He is survived by his loving wife, Jane Watkins Mudd; a son, William Franklin Mudd and his wife, Janette, of Roswell, GA; a daughter, Molly Elizabeth Mudd, of Anderson, SC; a sister, Jean Mudd Driggers and her husband J.M., of Bennettsville, SC ; and two grandchildren, Morgan and Parker Mudd, of Roswell, GA. The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, March 5, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at Central Presbyterian Church with Reverend Dr. David J. Bailey officiating. A private family committal will be held at Old Silver Brook Cemetery at a later date. The family will be at the residence and will gather for a time of visitation following the service at Central Presbyterian Church on Sunday.
