Hugh Ronald "Ron" Thomason, 79, of Anderson, SC passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Rainey Hospice House. Born April 1, 1938 in Anderson, SC, Ron was a son of the late Curly and Jeannie Thomason. He retired after 36 years from Owens-Corning Fiberglas, where he was known as "Rat". He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed bowling and growing tomatoes. He is survived by his children, Ronald Anthony Thomason, Kenneth Ronald Thomason, Dustin Lloyd Thomason, Crystal Love Erwin and Kimberly Nicole Smith; stepmother, Marlene Thomason; brothers, Dennis Thomason, Randy Thomason and Jerry Thomason; sister, Faye Weldon; nine grandchildren, his grandson, Michael was raised in the home and 3 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm, Monday, February 19, 2018 at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service with military honors will be at 11:00 am Tuesday in the Chapel at The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Nation officiating.
