Ronald Augustus Brooks, GYSGT Ret., age 67, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born in Anderson County on October 21, 1949, he was the son of the late Henry Augustus "Gus" Brooks and the late Viola Gilreath Brooks. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War and later as a Drill Instructor. His career was in the military as well as owning and operating Foothills Chem-Dry. He was an expert motorcycle road racer and an avid firearm enthusiast. He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Robin Pastir Brooks; a daughter, Andrea Tamar Brooks, of Akron, OH; a niece, Brittany S. Pastir, and a nephew, Robert T. Pastir, both who were raised in the home and now live in Florida; aunts, Peggy Welborn and Sharon Boiter, both of Anderson; mother-in-law, Irene Russell and her husband Kenneth, of Louisiana; father-in-law, Robert V. Pastir and his wife Gail, of Mooresboro, NC; brother-in-laws, Mark Pastir, Robert Pastir; a sister-in-law Michele Pastir and her daughter Kaley, all of Florida; cousins, Ross Welborn, Anna W. Kohlmayer, Joanne Bosquet, Senior Chief Amanda Bockis, and Jake Boiter, all of Anderson, SC; and special friends, Chris Wickware, Timothy Essex, and Brittany Boggs. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverend Dwight Green officiating. Interment will follow at M.J. Dolly Cooper at a later date.
