ANDERSON, SC ROSE McABEE KAY June 9, 1938 - July 26, 2012 Mrs. Rosalene Mauldin McAbee Kay, age 74, of 1005 Sioux Street, passed away at her residence on Thursday, July 26, 2012. Born in Cherokee, NC, she was the daughter of the late Sylvester William Mauldin and the late Kathleen Brown Mauldin. For over 20 years, she was married to William "Bill" Kay, of Townville. Mrs. Kay was retired as a spinning instructor at Springs Wamsutta where she was employed for over 20 years. She loved her vegetable and flower gardens, and she enjoyed canning tomatoes and green beans, and making jelly. Rose was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church. Survivors in addition to her husband, Bill, include 2 sons, Jerry Lee Glenn and his wife, Pat, of Anderson, and Danny Ray McAbee of Anderson; a sister Diane Heming of Charleston, IN; a special niece and nephew, Mark and Vickie Brown of Fair Play, SC; also surviving are 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Rose also leaves behind her little Shih Tzu, Dot, who was her constant companion and the love of her life. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Kay was preceded in death by a son, Larry Edward McAbee; a brother, Henry Mauldin; and a sister, Louise Brown. Funeral Services to honor and celebrate the life of Rose McAbee Kay will be held on Monday, July 30, 2012, at 11 AM, at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with Rev. David Blizzard officiating. Interment will follow at Beaver Dam Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be at the residence, and will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, July 29, 2012, from 6 PM until 8 PM.
