Roxanne (Rocky) Snipes Lark, 64, of Gastonia, NC, passed away in her home on Oct. 10, 2022, after a courageous battle against ovarian cancer. Rocky was born in Anderson, SC in 1958, and graduated from Westside High School in 1976 and, later, Forrest College. She worked at Clemson University, Duke Energy's McGuire Nuclear Station and Ashland Chemical. Rocky remained in the upstate of South Carolina until she moved to the Spencer Mountain area of North Carolina in 1992 when she married Robert Lark of Belmont, NC. Throughout her life, Rocky enjoyed creating, whether that was through photography, watercolors, cooking and baking, or organizing family vacations in the mountains or at the beach. She loved good conversation and had a passion for music. Rocky was preceded in death by her father, Benny Sanders Snipes, and mother, Ann Elizabeth (Betty) Snipes. She is survived by her husband, Robert Lark; daughter Claire Bowman of Charlotte, NC; son and daughter-in-law, Rob and Amy Lark of Chapel Hill, NC; beloved grandson, Luca Lark, and sisters Libby Smith of Anderson, SC and Sandra Turk (Tim) of Townville, SC. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Oct. 23, 2022, at The McDougald Funeral Home in Anderson, SC. Friends and family will be received beginning at 2:30 p.m. prior to the service.
