Roy P. Chambers, age 91, of Anderson, SC, passed away Friday, January 21, 2022, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born August 16, 1930, in Walhalla, SC, he was the son of the late Carl C. Chambers and Essie White Chambers. He was married to Janet Hedden Chambers until her death in 2006. Roy was a veteran of the United States Army and was retired from the textile industry and Sears. He was a member of River of Life Church of God. He is survived by his son, Rev. R. Bruce Chambers (Vickie) of Seneca; daughter, Gail Hayes of Honea Path; brother, Clarence "Wink" Chambers of Anderson; sister, Betty Stalnaker of Anderson; grandchildren, Crystal Tolbert (Kevin), Lori Gambrell (Chris), Brandon Hayes, Jennifer Vaughn, and Jodee Harris (Adam); and great grandchildren, Jacob Magaha, Machinzy Arrowood, Patrick Vaughn, Eve Grace Harris, James Michael Harris, Parker Gambrell, Drew Gambrell, Bralon Gambrell, Tyler Gambrell, and Jacob Gambrell. He is also survived by June Cooley, his fianc for 16 years. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Rev. Steven Chambers; sister-in-law, Ann Chambers; and brother-in-law, Robert Stalnaker. The family will receive friends Friday, January 28, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 29, 2022, at 1:00 pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Dale Dyar officiating. Flowers will be accepted and memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd., Anderson, SC 29621. The family will be at their respective homes.
