Roy Mays "Joe" Gentry, III, age 58, of Anderson, SC, devoted husband to Shirley Medlin Gentry, passed away Thursday, February 17, 2022, at his residence. Born June 13, 1963, in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late Roy Mays Gentry, Sr. and Sara Elizabeth Bowling Gentry. Joe was a graduate of McDuffie High School. He earned his associates degree and worked in maintenance at Michelin Tire in Sandy Springs (US 2) and Prime where he retired after 35 years of service. He was a huge South Carolina Gamecocks fan, had a heart of gold, and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his loving wife Shirley, he is survived by two sisters, Gale McMahan (Robert) of Anderson, SC, and Dale Motiff (Matt) of Colorado Springs, CO; numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; and sister-in-law, Norma Painter (Marty). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son. The family will receive friends Monday, February 21, 2022, from 12:15 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow visitation in the Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Scott Vaughn and Pastor James Patterson officiating. Entombment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
