Hess, age 85, of Anderson, SC died on Friday, October 5, 2012 at the Rainey Hospice House. Roy was born March 10, 1927, in Huntingdon, PA to Roy and Martha Hess. Roy was educated in PA schools; he served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. After a brief employment with GE, he was employed for 35 years with Owens Corning Fiberglas in different capacities including 3 years as plant manager here in Anderson. He was retired as a Vice President of manufacturing in Toledo, OH. He served on the boards of AnMed Medical Health Center, Tri County Technical College and other community non- profit organizations. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he held the office of Elder. Roy is survived by Helen K. Hess, his wife of 63 years, and their 4 children, Susan Smalley and her husband, Keith, Patricia Kephart and her husband, Ken, Ann Belue and her husband, David, and Jim Hess and his wife, Amy; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Jeanne Skillington; brother, Thomas Hess. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Anita Abbott. Following a private family committal service at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum a Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, October 8, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Dr. Dennis Tedder and Reverend Caroline East Berardi officiating. The Family will receive friends following the service, in the Kirk, of First Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 302 W.
