ROY LANDES May 14, 1918 - October 3, 2005 ANDERSON, SCMr. Roy Emerson Landes, age 87, husband of Jean Hostetter Landes of 121 Apt. D, Woodland Drive, Anderson, SC, died Monday, October 03, 2005, at the AnMed Health Medical Center in Anderson, SC.Born in Staunton, VA, he was the son of the late Hubert Hall Landes and Gertrude Samples Landes. He was retired from textiles as a loom technician. He was a United States Army World War II veteran and served as a Staff Sergeant with Headquarters Company of Infantry Batallion in the European Theater and was the recipient of two Purple Hearts. He was a life member of the D.A.V., American Legion and V. F. W. and the Woodmen of the World. He was a member of Toxaway United Methodist Church and also served as a trustee.In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Edna Jean Flemmons of Anderson, SC, Shirley Landes of the home and Suzanne Campbell of Anderson, SC; two brothers, Glenn Landes of Roanoke, VA and Ralph Landes of South Boston, VA; two sisters, Helen Landes of Staunton, VA, and Kathleen Sprouse of Craigsville, VA; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, John Allen Gentry and a sister, Dorothy Gordon. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2005, at 2:00 pm at Toxaway United Methodist Church by the Reverend Kurt Stutler. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park with military rites.The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 5, 2005, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Mr. Landes will be placed in the church at 1:00 pm on Thursday and the family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the church.
