Campbell Nursing Home.Born in Anderson, SC on January 6, 1933 to the late Roy Ernest Sanders and Lucille Scott Sanders, Mr. Sanders was a graduate of Boys' High School, Class of 1951. He retired from the U.S. Navy as a 1st Class Petty Officer, having served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He also retired from the Anderson County Sheriffs' Department as a detention officer. He was a Mason and a member of Centerville Baptist Church.Survivors include his wife of the home, two daughters, Chasity Lynn Powell of Anderson, SC and Toni Leigh Alapin of Fuquay-Varina, NC; two sisters, Faye Black and her husband Bill of Greenville, SC and Linda Sutherland of Mauldin, SC; and two grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Sanders and Grayson Grantt Powell.In addition to his parents, Mr. Sanders was predeceased by a son, Sandy Sanders and a son-in-law, Jerry Powell.The Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with the Reverends Steve Silvey and Terry Rainey officiating. Interment will follow in M.J. 'Dolly' Cooper Veterans Cemetery with Military Honors. Two nephews, Jimmy Tucker and Dean Sutherland, will also serve as honorary escorts.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Richard M.
