Wood of 402 Barksdale Road, Iva, formerly of Citrus Springs, FL, died Thursday, December 1, 2005 at the Hospice House in Anderson, SC.Born in Fountain Inn, SC, he was a son of the late Roy Rush Wood and Lucille Innes Wood. Mr. Wood was a retired pipe fitter from the Local 391 of Greenville, SC and was a United States Navy World War II veteran. He was a former member of Union Baptist Church of Iva, SC and currently a member of North Oak Baptist Church in Citrus Springs, FL.He is survived by his wife, Melba A. Wood of the home; sons, Roy Rush Wood, III of Crystal River, FL, Joe Wood of Greer, SC, David Wood of Florence, KY and Dennis Wood of Anderson, SC; daughters, Iva Lee Vaughn of Iva, SC, Bobbie Woodard of Taylors, SC, Diane Nix of Crystal River, FL, Anita Whitmire of Belton, SC and Belinda Greenway of Iva, SC; sisters, Edna Smith of Anderson, SC, Mary Hyatt of Las Vegas, NV and Virginia Valentine of Columbia, SC; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Wilton 'Wiggle' Wood.A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, December 4, 2005 at 3:00 pm at Union Baptist Church in Iva, SC by the Reverend Dr. Danny Burnley and Reverend Ronnie Powell.The family will be at the residence.The family suggest flowers be omitted and memorials be made to the Cancer Association of Anderson, 215 E.
