Ruben Pope, age 95, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home.

Born March 16, 1931, in Andalusia, AL, he was the son of the late Thomas J. Pope and Nonie V. Oliver Pope. He was married for 55 years to Marjorie Ann Hedden Pope until her death in 2009. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Felicia Ann Pope; and several siblings.

Ruben was a veteran of the United States Army proudly serving his country for 20 years from 1949 until 1969. He served during the Korean Conflict and retired with the rank of Master Sergeant. He was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church.

He is survived by his sister, Willie Jean Warner; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday, August 3, 2026, from 12:00-1:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm with Rev. Cory Bernheisel officiating. A private burial will be held at Evitt Cemetery in Cashiers, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Oakwood Baptist Church, 304 Pearman Dairy Rd., Anderson, SC 29625.
