Ruby Jean Brothers Atkins, age 76, of Townville, SC, loving wife to James Thade Atkins for 40 years, passed away Saturday, February 4, 2023, at her residence. Born December 9, 1946, in Shreveport, LA, she was the daughter of the late James Henry Brothers, Sr. and Ruby DeForest Brothers. Ruby had a successful career in car sales at Bill Cribbs Chevrolet where she was salesman of the month many times. She was a wonderful cook and hostess and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was also a gracious caregiver for her many family members and was considered the rock of the family. Ruby was the best wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother anyone could ask for and will be truly missed. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Lynn Donald (Keith); son, Teddy Atkins (Cecilia); brothers, Buddy and Keith Brothers; sisters, Grace Whitaker, Brenda Bradley, Diane Ertzberger, Deborah Owen, and Martha Sue Brothers; grandchildren, Amber McKerley, Brandon K. Donald (Kara), Zach Greene (Courtney), Erin Donald (Jordan), Brayley Atkins, Laycie and Hunner Greene, and Mindi Brown; and great-grandchildren, Zachary McKerley, Remi Oubre, Aubrey Greene, Westyn Oubre, Serena Ruby Donald, and Paiten Crawford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Bobby Greene and James Henry Greene; and brother, Frank D. Brothers. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery of Liberty, SC, with Rev. David Blizzard officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
