Ruby Nell Hunnicutt Whitten Bruce, age 92, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 3, 2016. Born in Hart County, GA, on November 12, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Jimmie Lee Hunnicutt and the late Vera Hansford Hunnicutt. She retired from textiles after many years of service to both Appleton and Wamsutta Mills. Ruby was a faithful member of West Anderson Church of God. She is survived by her children, Gary Whitten, Sammy Whitten and his wife Dot, and Marion "Tooter" Whitten and his wife Libby; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; three special friends, Terry Ann Hayes, Connie Blair, and Louise Evans. She was twice married, first to the late Raymond Carl Whitten, and to the late Charles Howard Bruce; she was also preceded in death by a son, Steve Whitten; a daughter-in-law, Jean Whitten; step-children, Jerri Zitnik, and David Bruce; brothers, Edward, William, Johnny, Hoyt, Jimmy, and Carl Ray Hunnicutt; and sisters, Jessie Richards, Barbara Jennings, and one infant sister. The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, March 6, 2016, at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Reverends Mark Daniel, John Daniel, and J. Floyd Stansell officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
