Ruby Owens Dickson ANDERSON, SC Ruby Owens Dickson, 94 of 1217 Old Denver School Road, wife of the late James Gartrell Dickson, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2015 at her residence. Born in Hart County, GA on June 15, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Tom Watson Owens and Nina Cleveland Owens. Mrs. Dickson was a retired LPN at Anderson Memorial Hospital and was a long time and beloved member of Mount Tabor Baptist Church. Surviving are her sons, James Edward Dickson and his wife, Ellen, Joe Wayne Dickson and his wife, Jean; daughters, Shirley D. Bowen of Anderson, Wanda D. Maw and her husband, Jerry of Pendleton; daughter-in-law, Sandra Lowery Dickson of Kings Mountain, NC; sisters, Ruth Owens Sanders and Annie Dell Owens Dyer both of Hartwell, GA. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by son, Larry Dickson; son-in-law, Vernon H. Bowen; brothers, Fred, Frank, Arnold and Doc Owens; sisters, Lizzie Mae Sellers and Johnnie Sue Owens. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 16, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Mount Tabor Baptist Church officiated by the Reverends Mark Dickson and Phillip Blankenship. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as Honorary pallbearers will be members of The Home Bound Committee. The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Thursday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Mrs. Dickson will be placed in the church At 1:00 pm on Friday. Flowers are optional.
