RUBY N. EVANS Ruby Lillian Norris Evans, age 99, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2014, at NHC Anderson. Born on August 4, 1915, in Jackson County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Wesley Angus Norris and the late Lettie LeCroy Norris. For 55 years, she was the loving and devoted wife of the late Woodrow Gaines Evans until his death in 1988. Mrs. Evans was retired from Wellington Mills after 40 years of employment. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and was a member of Marshall Memorial United Methodist Church. Survivors include a son, William Ray Evans (Louise), of Greenville; 2 sisters, Evelyn Beusee (Joe) of Anderson, and Geraldine Hunter Butts (Jack) of Anderson; a son-in-law, Farrell Giles of Anderson; 4 grandchildren, Vickie Giles McAlister (Steve) of Pendleton, Scott Giles (Teresa) of Anderson, Beverly Giles Blackwell (Barry) of York, SC, Suzanne Evans Knight (Larry) of Easley; also surviving are 9 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, Woodrow, Mrs. Evans was preceded in death by her daughter, Betty Jo Giles; a grandson, Stephen Farrell Giles; 4 brothers, Henry, Hoyt, Willard and Howard Norris; and 2 sisters Lois King and Guynelle Bannister. A funeral service to celebrate and honor the life of Mrs. Ruby Evans will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2014, at 2 p.m., at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Brookshire and Rev. J. Floyd Stansell, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Thursday, October 2, 2014, from 12 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of NHC for the love, care, and many acts of kindness shown to Mrs. Evans during her 9 years of residence.
