Ruby Nell Burdette Porter, age 84, of Anderson, SC, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2021 at her home. She was born July 12, 1936 in Anderson, SC, and was the daughter of the late Floyd Thomas Burdette and Lilly Mae Turpin Burdette. She was the widow of Joseph Leonard Porter, Sr. Ruby was a faithful homemaker and always made sure her home was spotless. She also enjoyed eating her favorite meal, breakfast, out at local restaurants. Ruby was a good and faithful Christian and was a member of Restoration Church of God. She is survived by her son, Leonard Porter, Jr. of Townville, SC; daughters, Annie Cobb of Townville, SC, Mary Lucille Watkins of Pickens, SC, Judy Trammell of Jefferson, GA, Nellie Martin of Anderson, SC, and Nina King of Anderson, SC; brother, Ray Burdette; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and a special sister-in-law, Betty Burdette. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles and Olin Burdette. The family will receive friends Saturday, February 13, 2021, from 6:00-8:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Sunday, February 14, 2021 at 3:30 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Whitfield officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Social distancing will be observed and masks required.
