MOUCHETANDERSON, SC ' Mrs. Rubye Emerson Mouchet, age 100, former resident of 314 Old Emerson Bridge Road, passed away on Monday, October 31, 2011, at Anderson Place Assisted Living.Born in the Ebenezer Community of Anderson County, she was one of six children of the late Jesse Newton Emerson and Beatrice Smith Emerson. She was a graduate of Anderson Girl's High School, Anderson Junior College, & Furman University. Her graduate studies were completed at the University of South Carolina as well as Clemson University. Rubye was a dedicated Educator having taught in the elementary grades in Anderson County for forty-three years, the last twenty-three years were in Anderson District No. 5. She was a member of the SC Retired Educators Association, the Anderson College Alumni Association, and a charter member of Anderson County Woman's Club. She was a former member of Long Branch Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher. In later years she joined Starr Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher, leader of the youth organization, and a member of the WMU. Survivors include sisters-in-law: Anna Emerson of Augusta, GA, and Elinor Mouchet Shaner and husband, Fred of Greenwood, SC; nieces & nephews: Helen Emerson of Wheat Ridge, CO, Kenneth A. Emerson of Anderson, SC, Carmen Emerson-Bass and husband, Richard of Honolulu, HI, Sandra E. Price and husband, Kevin of Oak Park, IL, Emily Emerson of Augusta, GA, John Fogle and wife, Carol of Hendersonville, NC, Steve Jackson and wife, Patty of Riverdale, GA, Don Jackson of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Ralph Herman Swygert and wife, Shirley of Anderson, SC, and Jake Swygert of Anderson, SC; and many great nieces & nephews, cousins, friends, and caring neighbors. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Major John Rhett Mouchet; siblings: J. Claude Emerson, Clara Emerson Swygert, Sadie Emerson Fogle, Lt. Col. J. Paul Emerson Ret'd US ARMY, and Eileen Emerson Jackson; and a niece, Brenda Fogle Olson.The Funeral Service will be held at 4pm on Thursday, November 3, 2011, in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home conducted by the Reverend Tony Howell. Interment will follow in New Silver Brook Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service.
