JANUARY 10, 1955 - AUGUST 5, 2012 ANDERSON, SC Malcolm Russell "Russ" Metz, Jr., age 57, of Anderson, passed away on Sunday, August 05, 2012 at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born in Anderson, SC, he was the son of Russell Metz, Sr. and June Parnell Metz of Iva, SC. Russ grew up in Iva and was a 1973 Crescent High School graduate. He graduated from Anderson University and also attended Southern Wesleyan and Furman Universities. He was part owner of the family business, Crescent Builders in Iva. Passionate about the Anderson YMCA, Russ served on the Board of Directors. He was an avid runner and cyclist and competed in many half marathon and triathlons. Mr. Metz was a Mason and a member of the Welcome Baptist Church, where he served on the Board of Deacons. In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sons, Jason Metz and his wife, Jan of Anderson, and Augustus Metz of the home; three grandchildren, Brady, Greer and Latham Metz, of Anderson; sister, Patti Lee and her husband, Rick and their children, Rebecca, Dani, Hanna, and Olivia, of Greenville; brother, Ron Metz and his children, Garrett, Kylie, and Sallie Claire of Starr. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church in Iva, SC., with the Reverend Jerry Gray and Reverend Doctor William R. West, Jr., officiating. Interment will follow in the Iva City Cemetery. The family will be at the home of his parents, 9321 Hwy 81 South, Iva SC 29655, and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Monday, August 6, 2012 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
