Ruth Loftis Banister, age 93, of 201 Edgebrook Drive, died on Monday, July 4, 2016, at Rainey Hospice House. Mrs. Banister was the daughter of the late William Ariel Billings and the late Louise Riddle Billings. She was the former owner of Kiddie Land Child Care for twenty-five years, where she was known to many as "Aunt Ruth." She was a devoted member of Pope Drive Baptist Church for over sixty years, where she served in numerous capacities. Ruth is survived by a son, William Duane Loftis and his wife, Phyllis, of Anderson; a grandson, Zachary Loftis and his wife, Emily of Isle of Palms, SC; and great-grandchildren Madison Speer, Watson Loftis, Drew Loftis, and Hess Loftis; and two nephews, Roger Baldwin and Ted Baldwin, and one niece, Susan Billings. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands J. C. Loftis, Jr. and Charles B. Banister; a sister, Ethel Baldwin; a brother, Oren Billings; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Loftis Speer. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2016, at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. Matthew Danuser and Rev. Ken Wright officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the home of Duane and Phyllis Loftis, 1308 Wendover Way, Anderson, 29621, and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Thursday, July 7, 2016, from 12 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. The family would like to thank the staff at The Garden House for the wonderful, loving care they have provided Mrs. Banister for the past two years.
