Ruth Vickery Carithers, age 89, of Hosanna Health and Rehab of Piedmont, formerly of Anderson, entered Heaven's gates on Friday, October 2, 2015, upon her death at Rainey Hospice House. Born in Anderson on August 26, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Vickery and the late Axer Craft Vickery. For seventy years, she was the loving and devoted wife of Nathan H. Carithers, of Legacy Senior Living in Anderson. Mrs. Carithers is a graduate of Anderson Girls High School, Class of 1945. For over twenty years, she was employed by Singer Manufacturing. Following her retirement, she then worked for five years with Hamricks Clothing in Anderson. She was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Temple. In addition to her husband, Nathan, Mrs. Carithers is survived by a son, Henry Carithers (Henrietta) of Westminster, SC; two daughters, Cherry Graham (Jim), of Anderson and Candy Brock (Larry) of Roebuck, SC; one brother, Lonnie Vickery of Anderson; a sister-in-law, Linda Vickery of Anderson; two grandchildren, Lisa Beebe (Erik) and Tammy Grizzle (Robert); three great-grandchildren, Kristine Grizzle, Seth Beebe and Grace Beebe. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by two brothers, Mack and Preston Vickery. The family wishes to express gratitude to the staff of Hosanna Health Care and the staff of Hospice of the Upstate for the tender loving care given to Ruth "Pinky". A Graveside Service to celebrate and honor the life of Mrs. Carithers will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2015, at 11 a.m. at New Silver Brook Cemetery, with Rev. Sam Duncan officiating.
