Ruth Ann Garrett Banister, age 88, passed away on Wednesday, November 11th, 2015, at Brookdale Anderson in Anderson, SC. Born in Greenville, SC on April 2nd, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Mary Elizabeth Staggs Garrett and Noah Thomas Garrett. She graduated from Ellen Woodside High School in Greenville, SC and went on to attend Julian Haytt Photograpy School in California. While in California, she was a professional photographer and owned her own studio for several years. In 1971, she moved to Williamston, SC. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Crawford Owens of Anderson, SC; a grandson, Eddy Lee Owens of Anderson, SC; brothers, Leon Garrett of Belton, SC and Franklin Garrett of Greenville, SC and a sister Louise Heatherly of Belton, SC. She was twice married, first to the late Clarence Edgar Crawford and her second husband Carl Banister. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Doug and Bob Garrett and her sister, Frances Dickerson. A graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park on Sunday, November 15th, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Larry Baldwin officiating. Visitation will follow the service.
