RUTH MARTIN JELINEK June 13, 1913 - October 17, 2012 ANDERSON, SC Ruth Lillian Martin Jelinek, age 99, of Anderson, passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at Anderson Place. Born in New York, NY, Ruth was the daughter of the late Patrick Michael Martin and the late Elizabeth "Lillian" Ellsworth Martin. She retired from Burelle's Press Clipping Bureau in Livingston, NJ, where she was the first female manager of the Reading Room. She and her husband moved to Anderson in 1979. Ruth was always active in every community in which she lived. She was a member of the Newcomer's Club, an avid bridge player and flower gardener and was a faithful member of St. George's Episcopal Church. At the ages of 97 and 98, she walked in "The Walk to End Alzheimers". Survivors include two daughters, whom she loved dearly, Gail Anne Gold of Hartwell, GA and Barbara Cochrane of Wescosville, PA; four grandchildren, Rebecca Mayr, Steven Gold, Scott Cochrane, Erin Santella; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews who fondly called her Auntie Ruth. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Jelinek, Jr; two brothers and one sister. The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Friday, October 19, 2012 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 11:00 am at St. George's Episcopal Church with The Reverend Wayman Henry officiating.
