Ruth Cole Nimmons, age 82, passed away on November 19, 2017, at her home in Swainsboro, GA. Born in Anderson, SC, on April 29, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Joe Cole and the late Ruby Elizabeth Cole. After graduating from Girls High School in Anderson, SC Ruth married and became a Homemaker and loving Mom to her four children. She attended Swainsboro Technical College as a non-traditional student later in life and worked part-time with Emanuel County School District. She was a loving caregiver for her husband for the last four years of her life. She died at home, surrounded by her family, as a result of acute myeloid leukemia. She was of the Baptist faith. Ruth is survived by her husband Maurice Hubert Nimmons; a son, Maurice H. Nimmons, Jr. of Swainsboro, GA; daughters, Marcie Simmons (Bill) of Swainsboro, GA, Kim Doricchi (Richard) of Jenson Beach, FL, and Melanie Powell (David) of Waynesboro, GA; sisters, Betty Jo Blackwell of Belton, SC, and Martha "Bodie" Lynch of Virginia Beach, VA; five grandchildren, Rino Doricchi (Stefanie), Shea Walton (Jordan), Cole, Sarah, and Hannah Powell; two step-grandchildren, Jessica Collins (Brooks) and Wes Simmons (Haley); and one great-grandchild, Lillian Walton. The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 21, 2017, from 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home following visitation. Interment will follow at Silver Brook Cemetery.
