Annie Ruth Rhodes, age 87, passed away at Rainey Hospice House on Saturday, July 13, 2013. She was the daughter of the late James David Hiott and the late Eileen Estes Hiott. She was the loving and devoted wife of the late Ross Dan Rhodes. A graduate of Girls High School, Mrs. Rhodes was formerly employed with Scotts Manufacturing until its closing and then began her career with the Anderson County Public Library, until her retirement on March 23, 2013, after 15 years of service. Mrs. Rhodes was a member of Pope Drive Baptist Church and a gracious southern lady, loved by all who met her. Mrs. Rhodes is survived by one daughter, Debbie Woodburn and her husband , Paul, of Anderson; a sister, Doris Murray of Seneca; two grandchildren, Melissa Woodburn and Joshua Woodburn, both of Anderson; four nephews, Lanny Mull, Pat McShea, Mike McShea and Jimmy Hiott. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and James Hiott; and a sister, Lee Mull. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at 2:30PM in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with Rev. Michael Kinard officiating. Employees of Anderson County Public Library will serve as honorary escort. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 1:00PM until 2:00PM. Interment will follow at Belton City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC, 29621.
