RUTH M. TAYLOR March 10, 1915 - June 29, 2012 Mrs. Ruth Meachum Taylor, age 97, of 311 Simpson Road, Anderson, died at AnMed Health Medical Center on Friday, June 29, 2012. Born in Morven, NC, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Jackson Meachum and the late Mary Hancock Meachum. She was the wife of the late Robert Alton Taylor, Sr., who preceded her in death in1983. Mrs. Taylor attended Appalachian State Teachers College in Boone, NC, where she pursued a degree in education. She taught math in the Greenville County Schools for many years, where she ultimately retired. She was a former president of the Fountain Inn Garden Club, and she was actively involved in Meals on Wheels. Perhaps her greatest love was her grandchildren whom she cherished dearly. Mrs. Taylor was the last surviving member of her family of 14 children, as she was predeceased by 7 brothers and 6 sisters, in addition to her parents and her beloved husband, Alton. Survivors include 2 sons, Robert Alton Taylor, Jr., and his wife Glenda, and James H. Taylor and his wife, Lucy, both of Anderson; also surviving are 5 grandchildren 6 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. A funeral service celebrating the life of Mrs. Ruth M. Taylor will be held Sunday, July 1, 2012, at 3 PM at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Fountain Inn, with Rev. Laura Canine officiating. Interment will follow at Cannon Memorial Park in Fountain Inn. The family will receive friends at the Trinity United Methodist Church on Sunday from 1:30 until 2:30 PM.
