RUTH WATKINS May 31, 1934 - October 31, 2005PENDLETON, SCMrs. Ruth Swaney Wilson Watkins, age 71, wife of Furman Watkins of 1401 Levis Smith Road, Pendleton, SC, died Monday, October 31, 2005 at the AnMed Health Medical Center in Anderson, SC.Born in Pendleton, SC on May 31, 1934, Mrs. Watkins was a daughter of the late Lee F. Swaney and Bessie Collins Swaney. She attended Pendleton High School and Forrest Junior College. She was a retired hairdresser and worked several years at La France Industries in the office. She was a member of Fants Grove Baptist Church, served as president of the Ladies Sunday School class, a member of the W.M.U. and served as the church pianist for several years.She is survived by her husband, Furman Watkins of the home; daughter, Frankie Ledbetter and her husband, Ricky of Asheville, NC; brothers, Melvin Swaney of Sandy Springs, SC, Clyde Swaney of Athens, GA and Lee Swaney of Clarkston, GA; sisters, Ruby Palmer of Anderson, SC and Frances Long of Monroe, GA; three grandchildren, Joshua Ledbetter, Alex Revis and Madysen Ledbetter and special friend Dot Nimmons of Anderson, SC.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank O. Wilson; brothers, Larry Swaney, William 'Bill' Swaney, Calvin Swaney and Mike Swaney. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2005 at 3:00 pm at Fants Grove Baptist Church officiated by Reverends Allen Moore, and Edward Bryson. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens in Clemson, SC. The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 2, 2005 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
