RUTH WOOTEN WHITFIELD June 18, 1935 - May 3, 2012 Mrs. Ruth Kerr Wooten Whitfield, age 76, of 1630 Cherokee Circle, Anderson, died Thursday, May 3, 2012, at the Rainey Hospice House following a lengthy illness. Born in Walhalla, SC, she was a daughter of the late Wade Hampton Kerr and the late Annie Mae Elliott Kerr. She was married to the late Glenn S. Wooten for over 30 years. Ruth was employed for many years at the Ryobi Company of Anderson (formerly Singer), where she was a production operator. She enjoyed working in her yard, and had a special love of crappie fishing with her husband and children. Left to carry on her legacy are her son, Vick G. Wooten (Miriam) of Belton; and her daughter, Ann Cobb of the residence. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. A funeral service celebrating the life of Ruth Whitefield will be held Sunday, May 6, 2012, at 1:30 PM at The McDougald Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Gladson officiating. Interment will follow at the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 12 Noon until 1 PM.
