RYLAND CHESSER
February 23, 1930 - May 30, 2012
Ryland Shaffer Chesser, age 82, of 105 James Lawrence Orr Drive, Anderson, went to be with His Lord on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at the Rainey Hospice House. Born in Duffield, VA, he was the son of the late William B. Chesser and the late Nannie M. Hill Chesser. For over 42 years, he was the devoted and loving husband of Beverly Payne Chesser, of the popular Beverly Exercise television program. In fact, Ryland was Beverly's most constant supporter in her endeavors.
Mr. Chesser was in marketing and sales for many years with the Western Union Telegraph Corporation and he was the founder of Beverly Exercise Television. He was a veteran of the US Army, having served during the Korean Conflict era. Ryland was a graduate of the University of Baltimore earning a degree in business management. He was a faithful member of Temple Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, Beverly, he is survived by a daughter, Leah Rachel Hartman and her husband Delray, of Simpsonville, SC, and a brother, William J. Chesser and his wife Jean, of Zephyrhills, FL. Ryland also leaves behind a little dog, Sugar Baby, who he loved so much.
A service celebrating the life of Ryland Chesser will be held Saturday, June 2, 2012, at 11:00AM at Temple Baptist Church, with the Reverend Dr. Larry Pearson and Mr. Jim Roberts officiating. The interment ceremony will be held at M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veteran's Cemetery at 10:00AM Monday, June 4th. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Friday, June 1, 2012, from 6 PM until 8 PM.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621, or to Temple Baptist Church Building Fund, 2905 Standridge Road, Anderson, SC 29625.
