Salvatore D. Cancello, age 80, of Anderson, SC, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born January 20, 1941 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Vincenzo "James" Cancello and Pasqualina Miranda Cancello. He was married for 54 years to Frances Favara Cancello until her death on February 11, 2016. Salvatore was a graduate of Fourteen Holy Martyrs High School and a veteran of the United States Army. He was a huge baseball fan, especially the Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Mets and loved eating his favorite Italian foods. He is survived by his children, Salvatore L. Cancello, Jr. (Ann), Patricia Marretta (Russell), and Andrew Cancello (late Jennifer K.); sisters, Connie Fortugno and Suzanne Marie; grandchildren, Andrew Egan, Stefan Egan, Tren Miller, Dante Miller, Melissa Ramsey, Deanna Cancello, James Cancello, Christian Cancello, Elaina Cancello, Claudia Cancello, and Katherine Cancello; and great-grandchildren, Joseph, Conner, and Aubrey Ramsey, and Hadli Egan. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his grandchildren, Nicholas Egan and Salvatore J. Cancello; and daughter-in-law, Jennifer K. Cancello. The funeral service will be held Friday, March 26, 2021, at 1:00 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Philip S. Gillespie officiating.
