SAM P. BIGGER, JR. Samuel Patrick Bigger, Jr., age 72, of Townville, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2015, at AnMed Health Medical Center. The date of Sam's death was not only Valentine's Day; it was also the day of his 19th wedding anniversary to his beloved wife, Wilma, of the home. Born on June 3, 1942, in Hemingway, SC, he was the son of the late Samuel P. Bigger, Sr., and the late Hattie Edwards Bigger. Sam was a graduate of Dillon High School, after which he earned a bachelor's degree from Wofford College. He was a regional manager in the medical insurance field where he worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia. After retirement, he moved to Townville where he met and married Wilma, the love of his life. Sam enjoyed working at Ralph Hayes Motors delivering auto parts. He also enjoyed fishing and meeting new people. By faith, Sam was Presbyterian. In addition to his wife Wilma Konetzki Bigger, Sam is survived by a son, Samuel P. Bigger, III, of Lawrenceville, GA; a daughter, Laura Pfefferkorn of Columbia; a brother, Don Bigger and his wife, Katie, of Mt. Holly, NC; a sister, Lolly Copeland and her husband, Bubba, of Bishopsville, SC; a step-son, Richard Cocchia and his wife, Kim, of Abbeville; two step-daughters, Tanya Charping and husband, Alan, of Pendleton, and Carla Branyon and husband, Jim, of Anderson; and nine step-grandchildren and one step great-grandchild. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by a step-son, Nick Cocchia, and a nephew, Cole Bigger. A Memorial Service to celebrate and honor the life of Samuel Bigger, Jr., will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2015, at 3 p.m. at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with Rev. Mel Davis officiating.
