Samuel F. McGill, age 82, of Iva, SC, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2025, at home.
Born January 24, 1943, in Iva, SC, he was a son of the late Harold McGill and Louise Forrester McGill. He was also preceded in death by 4 brothers, Michael R. McGill, Randy McGill, Harold Roy McGill and Thomas E. McGill.
Sam was a graduate of Crescent High School and worked in the construction industry as a pipefitter. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Iva. He enjoyed gospel music, old country music, songs by Webb Pierce, and playing cards, especially solitaire. He was good at math and numbers were his specialty. Sam never met a stranger and loved everyone he met. He loved his family and was a hands-on Papa, spending as much time as he could with his grands.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janice Heatherly McGill; sons, Timothy McGill (Robin) and Russell McGill; brother, Kenneth E. McGill; 3 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are two special great granddaughters, Charley Williams and Bella Williams who cared for him; and special friend, Dakota Kay. He will also be missed by his beloved fur pal and buddy, Chris.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, October 6, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Jerry Gray officiating. The family will speak with guests immediately following the service.
