ANDERSON, SC'Mr. Sammie M. Burdette, age 86, husband of the late Winnie Black Burdette, of Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home, 4605 Belton Highway, Anderson, SC died Friday, May 12, 2006 at AnMed Health Medical Center, Anderson, SC.Born in Anderson County on December 7, 1919, Mr. Burdette was the son of the late Sam J. Burdette and the late Ola Gilreath Burdette. He retired from Riverside Mill and was a member of Pope Drive Baptist Church where served as a deacon. He served in the United States Army and was a veteran of World War II having served in the European Theater.Mr. Burdette is survived by a stepdaughter, Willie Mae 'Bill' Schell of OH; three brothers, Willie Burdette of Iva, SC, Leo Burdette of Anderson, SC, and Harold Burdette of Belton, SC; a sister, Zoah Ayers of Anderson, SC; and five step-grandchildren.In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Burdette was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry and Theo Burdette.The family is at the home of his sister and brother-in-law, Zoah and Oscar Ayers, 1506 Flat Rock Road, Anderson, SC.
