Sammy David Thomas, age 75, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2015, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born in Anderson, SC, on November 6, 1939, he was the son of the late James Pledger Thomas and the late Ruth Burton Thomas. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Sammy was a member of Ruff Lodge #240 AF & AM, Hejaz, Scottish Rite, Elk Lodge #1206, and Central Presbyterian Church in Anderson. He and his wife were avid travelers, they visited all 50 states, all Canadian Provinces, Alaska two times, and Hawaii two times. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Nancy Anderson Thomas; his four children, Matt Glackin and his wife Tess, of Jacksonville, FL, Patti Shorey and her husband Day, of Belton, SC, David Glackin and his wife Vickie of Wake Forest, NC, and Amy Rowley and her husband David, of Anderson, SC; and; six grandchildren, Mandy, Christie, Robert, Patrick, David, and his little love Ginavieve; two brothers and two sisters. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. David J. Bailey officiating. Interment will follow at a later date at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
