Obituary

Samuel Everette Metts, 66, of Bradley, SC went to his eternal rest with our Lord on Sunday, January 7th 2018 in Augusta, GA due to complications arising from cancer. He was born December 6th, 1951 in Greenwood, SC to the late Carroll Everette Metts and Lucille Satcher Metts. Retired for a number of years prior to his passing, Sam filled his time with reading, visiting with friends and family and watching all of his favorite sports teams from the comfort of home. He loved to fish and Santee fishing with friends was a favorite destination. Sam read his bible daily and his abiding faith in God was lifelong and always a source of inner peace for him. He was a Navy Veteran with a soft heart who never met a stranger as the saying goes. Sam had a unique inner light of love, friendship and trust in God. His death leaves a large hole not soon to be filled among those who knew and loved him. Sam is survived by sons Zach Metts (Shannon); Sam Metts Jr.; and Nathan Metts (Kristen) all of Greenwood, SC; one daughter JoAnne Ruby Little (Dale) of North, SC along with grandchildren: McKayla Metts, Bryson Metts, Olivia Metts, Ethan Metts, Carson Metts, McKenzie Metts, Nyla Quarles, Jada Quarles, Lily-Rose Little and step-grandchildren Caleb and Katelyn Little. In addition, he leaves nephew Will Metts of Greenwood; sister JoAnne Metts of Seneca, SC; brother Mark Metts of Temecula, CA; an uncle, Harry Metts and a cousin, Debra Metts Ouzts both also of Greenwood. Sam's brother, Bill Metts, preceded him in death in February 2016. Respecting Sam's wishes, he will be cremated. The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, January 14th in the Rehoboth Methodist Church Sanctuary on Callison Hwy from 2:30 to 3:00 pm. A memorial service for Sam will follow right after at 3:00 pm in the church itself. Arrangements are through McDougald Funeral Home of Anderson. If desired in honor of Sam's passing, donations can be given to any of these churches he has attended over the past decade: Rehoboth United Methodist Church, 1808 Callison Hwy, Greenwood, SC 29646. First Damascus Baptist Church, 425 Damascus Church Road, Bradley, SC 29819. South Greenwood Pentecostal Holiness Church, 17 First St., Greenwood, SC 29646
