SAM RICHEY October 25, 1944 - September 7, 2008ANDERSON, SCMr. Samuel James Richey, age 63, husband of Betty Payne Richey of 212 Windjammer Way, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2008 at his residence.Born in Anderson, SC on October 25, 1944, Mr. Richey was the son of Louise Worley Richey of Anderson and the late James Albert Richey. He was a graduate of Boys' High School, Anderson College and Central Wesleyan College, and was employed as a butcher for Ingles and Kroger's Supermarkets for many years. He was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church where he served as an AWANAS leader for many years and was a member of the Abundant Grace Sunday School class. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Richey served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Betty Payne Richey of the home; daughters, Laurie Howard-Fuller, Amie Vickery and her husband, Keith; son, Sean Howard and his wife, Lou; mother, Louise Richey; sisters, Norma Olson and twin sister, Selma Sexton, all of Anderson; and seven grandchildren, Haylei August Fuller, Daniel Payne Howard, Carlie Reese Howard, Eli Joshua 'EJ' Howard, Jayme Kristofer Vickery, Brady Colton Vickery and Ainsley Noelle Vickery. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverends Brent Armstrong and Paul Brown. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Military Honors.The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.The family will be at the residence.Flowers are optional.
