Sandra Jean Shanklin Martin, age 83, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at Morningside of Anderson.

Born February 8, 1941, in Anderson, SC, she was a daughter of the late Alvin Guy Shanklin and Viola Barnum Shanklin. She was also preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Butch Buckner.

Sandra was a graduate of Girls High and attended nursing training at Baptist Hospital in Columbia. She retired from AnMed Bone and Joint (formerly Anderson Orthopedic Clinic) and was a former member of the Medical Assistants Association. She was a 50-year member of Beta Sigma Phi, a member of the Red Hat Society, and was involved with the Anderson Cotillion. She was also a life-long member of New Prospect Baptist Church where she formerly taught the Joy Sunday School Class, served on several committees, and volunteered with the Good News Club. She loved beach music, Shag dancing, and attending any activity her grandchildren were involved in.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 65 years, Cleo Julian Martin; sons, Bob Martin (Selena), Jon Martin (Paula), and Alan Martin (Dori); sister, Pat Buckner; grandchildren, Haley Knight (Adam), Logan Martin, and Colt Martin (Brooke); great grandson, Turner Knight; and niece Leigh Ann Buckner.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 20, 2024, from 2:00-2:45 pm at New Prospect Baptist Church. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 pm with Rev. Tom Turner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
