Sara Ross Akins, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at Abbeville Nursing Home. Born on February 2, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Ross and the late Mamie Autry Ross. She was a member of Marshall Memorial United Methodist Church. She is survived by two great-nephews, who showed her special care, Danny Ross and John M. Ross; as well as other nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles, B.F., Fred, and Harold Ross; two sisters, Nora Davis and Lucille Campbell; a special nephew, John L. Ross, Jr., with whom she made her home. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Friday, September 4, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Pine Lawn Cemetery in Pelzer, SC. The family will receive friends, prior to the service on Friday, at the funeral home, from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Marshall Memorial United Methodist Church, 135 Riley Street, Anderson, SC 29624.
