Obituary

Sara Hannah Roberts Hawkins at the age of 76, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 5, 2023. What a reunion it was, there she joined her parents, brothers, and sisters that she had longed to see. Sara was born in Clarkesville, GA on January 19,1947. She was the 6th child born of the 10, to the late R.D and Iness Roberts.

Sara graduated from TL Hanna High School and went to work at Southern Bell shortly after. She retired from there after 30 years of service. She earned many positions there and one earning her the privilege of becoming Mrs. Joe E. Hawkins from Belton SC. He was the love of her life and so adored him as well as he did her. They had a wonderful life together and would've celebrated their 50th anniversary this November.

After retiring, she went to work as a substitute teacher and continued to do so for 10 years. Sara loved children! One would say it was because she had to grow up with all those brothers and sisters, while others would say looks like she would've had enough. The fact is, all those siblings she adored, that grew her love for all children.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Joe; sons, Jody Hawkins of Pendleton and Alex Hawkins (Laura) of Anderson; three grandchildren, Ethan, McKenzie, and Zilly Ren; her treasured brother, Roy Roberts; caring and loving sisters, Carolyn Smith, Becky Berry, and Pam Wheeler (Hal); many nieces, nephews, greats and great greats will also cherish memories of their Aunt Sara.

Sara, with her husband, also had the honor of "God Parents" role to her niece, Brandi Wheeler Shivers and her nephews' children, Connor and Neil Morrison. Her sister Pam gave them a daughter they never had, and sister Becky graciously shared her "grands" before they had any of their own. They loved Aunt SaSa!

She was blessed with so many talents but her love for her Lord and family out shown them all. In return, she was so loved by her family and everyone that knew her. She greeted everyone with that beautiful smile and a hug. Sara was so much to so many people, but a prayer warrior would be one of the best known.

Sara was preceded in death by many beloved sisters and brothers Reba Roberts, Wilda Ethridge, David and Jack Roberts. Along with them was one of her earthly treasures, her special needs brother "Danny".

She was also preceded by her in-laws she dearly loved, Sheila Roberts, Rick Smith, Floyd Berry, and Jack Hawkins, all of Anderson.

Family and friends are invited to share memories and condolences on Sunday, October 8, 2023, at 2:00 pm followed by a Celebration of Life at 3:00 pm at the Freedom Center in Homeland Park, formerly First Assembly of God, where the Roberts Family has been connected from the beginning of the church.
