RUHLE May 15, 1912 - August 1, 2007ANDERSON, SCMrs. Sara Cathcart Ruhle, age 95, of 1602 Bramble Ridge Road, Anderson, SC, wife of the late Richard Ruhle, died Wednesday, August 01, 2007 at the Hospice House in Anderson.Born in Anderson, SC on May 15, 1912, Mrs. Ruhle was a daughter of the late James Milling Cathcart and Bessie Lee Henderson Cathcart. She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church. She studied voice at Anderson College in the 1930's and became one of Anderson's leading soloists. She also taught private voice lessons for 45 years and served as choir director for more than 40 years at three Anderson churches, beginning with Central Presbyterian Church, then St. John's United Methodist Church, followed by First Presbyterian Church. Over her long career, she enthusiastically served both church and community through music. In 1934 she married Richard Ruhle, who died in 1968. She is survived by three children, Deborah Ruhle Deck of Richmond, KY, Richard David Ruhle of Anderson, SC and Sara Ruhle Kyle of Pittsburgh, PA. Also surviving are one sister, Mary Cathcart Dickson of Clinton, SC; one brother, Dr. Edward Reaver Cathcart of Spartanburg, SC; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.A Private Graveside Service will be held at Old Silverbrook Cemetery on Saturday with the Reverend Dr. Martin L. Harkey, Jr., officiating.
