Sara Young Simpson Iva, SC Sara Young Simpson, age 77, of 600 Project Rd, Iva, SC and widow of the late, Douglas Thompson Simpson, Sr., passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at the Rainey Hospice House. Born in Anderson, SC on July 6, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Ira Burnace Young, the late Ethel Parks Young and the late Amie Latham Young, her step-mother. She was a 1955 graduate of Iva High School. Sara worked at Anderson County School District Three for more than 20 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Iva, as well as an avid Clemson Tiger Football and Atlanta Braves fan. Mrs. Simpson is survived by her children, Douglas Thompson Simpson "Tommy" Jr. and his wife Kelly Gambrell Simpson, of Anderson, SC and Tina Simpson Stovall and her husband Thomas Eugene Stovall, of Boston, MA; and three grandchildren, who were her pride and joy, Gabrielle "Gabby" Lynette Simpson, of Anderson, SC, Baylee Jackson Stovall and Kennedy Elizabeth Stovall, of Boston, MA. The family would like to extend their gratitude to a loving and caring friend, Brenda Metz and many neighbors and friends who looked after Sara until the end. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Sunday, August 10, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Jerry Gray, Reverend Curtis Bundy and Reverend Tony Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Iva City Cemetery. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends on Saturday, August 9, 2014 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
