Sara Almanzia Bowen Thomas, age 95, passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at her residence. Born in Anderson, SC on September 13, 1921, she was the daughter of the late I.C. Bowen and the late Nannie Ashley Bowen. Sara graduated Antreville High School as salutatorian, Class of 1939. She was a member of First Baptist of Anderson, where she was a member of the Baraca Class. She is survived by her niece, Melanie Bowen Kennedy (Billy) of Donalds, SC; nephews, Swain Bowen (Lisa), Dwight Bowen, and Leland Bowen (Sabra), all of Antreville, SC; a brother, Bobby Bowen (Cornelia) of Antreville, SC; five great nieces; and one great nephew. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J. Harold Thomas; and a sister, Leila Olivia Bowen. The graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. with the Reverend Michael Hammett officiating.
